Pre-Kindergarten 4 years through age Kindergarten

The Pre-Kindergarten Program at First Years Academy is exceptional. Our curriculum was designed to meet the developmental and social needs of children 4 and 5. Prekindergarten is a critical time for children as they begin the adventure of a lifetime of learning. Language Arts, Math, Music, and Science concepts are presented in fun and exciting ways that encourage self-discovery and confidence. The use of songs, games, and art exploration ensure that children are learning in a fun and enriching environment. Play is a major part of this age group as all children learn best when given the time and ability to choose what interests them best. I will advance as I learn new skills and prepare for kindergarten. . We promote independence in an organized atmosphere, as it is increasingly important for children to be their own thinkers. We also teach children to work well within a group through listening, sharing and cooperation.

Your Pre-kindergartner's Day

Teachers at First Years Academy organize activities that are designed to support your child's social, physical, emotional and intellectual development. In Prekindergarten, your child will receive the necessary tools to move into, as well as thrive in, the final phase of his or her early education Kindergarten all while having fun.

Language and Literacy

Each day we focus on age-appropriate literacy objectives, including letter recognition, letter sounds and emerging writing skills. Children are well on their way to becoming a wiz when it comes to reading and writing.

Mathematics

Children engage in the exciting work of numbers as they sort, construct, classify, and match. They also learn counting, measuring, and a variety of math skills.

Creative Arts and Music

Participation in creative arts and music allows children to showcase their talents. Exposing children to works by master artists and then asking them to create their own interpretation inspires children to find their own unique voice.

Scientific Discovery

Your child's mind for science will become stronger through hands-on experiences when he or she learns to predict results, test ideas and draw conclusions. As an explorer in this new world, your child will examine and use various tools of discovery.
